The Ridge and Valley dolostone woodland community type consists of a mosaic woodlands and small herbaceous openings.  This stand, in the Pedlar Hills of Montgomery County, shows much of the physiognomic variation.  Green violet (Cubelium concolor) is the dominant forb in the foreground.  Pedlar Hills State Natural Area Preserve. © DCR-DNH, Gary P.
