Celebrate National Trails day by giving back! Join us for Monthly Volunteer Workdays at Douthat State Park! These workdays are a great opportunity to help maintain and improve the park’s beautiful trail system while connecting with fellow outdoor enthusiasts.

-Trail maintenance and improvement projects

-Help preserve the legacy of our historic Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)-built trails, which have been a part of Douthat’s story since the 1930s

-A chance to make a positive impact on the park and its visitors

No experience is necessary, and all tools and supplies are provided. Please bring work gloves and eye protection if you have them, wear closed-toe shoes, and bring water. Help us keep Douthat State Park a welcoming and wonderful place for everyone to enjoy!

On the first Saturday of June, Virginia State Parks celebrates National Trails Day®, an annual event sponsored by the American Hiking Society encouraging outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to explore hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Virginia’s 44 state parks offer guided hikes, trail maintenance workshops and volunteer opportunities to highlight trail stewardship and the importance of preserving trails for future generations.
