Foliage report for October 30, 2025.

Fall colors have reached their peak or are just past peak across Virginia’s state parks. In the western region, Douthat and Fairy Stone are at the end of peak season but showcase brilliant reds, oranges and golds. However, leaf drop is accelerating due to frost and wind. Hungry Mother and Natural Tunnel still offer vibrant hues, while Smith Mountain Lake and the Southwest Virginia Museum are glowing with rich autumn tones. In Central Virginia, parks like High Bridge, James River and Powhatan are at or near peak, with vivid displays of red, orange and yellow. Northern parks such as Sweet Run and Seven Bends are also at peak, while Coastal parks like First Landing are approaching their peak burst of color.
