| الوصف: | Virginia Outdoors Foundation (VOF) is seeking to place an easement on a 186-acre farm in Southampton County with land in agricultural and forest use, wetlands, and more than 3,000 feet of frontage on the state scenic Nottoway River. The farm contains two center pivot irrigation installations as well as hydrants for rolling reel irrigation devices, which enable irrigation on nearly all of the fields. The property also contains working pine forest and old-growth Cypress and mixed hardwood stands along the river. The property is listed in six ConserveVirginia categories: Agriculture and Forestry, Natural Habitat and Ecosystem Diversity, Floodplains and Flooding Resilience, Cultural and Historic Preservation, Scenic Preservation, and Water Quality Improvement. There are five species of conservation concern per DWR’s Wildlife Information Service. This property is located 1,000 feet from an 854-acre DOF-held conserved tract and is adjacent to a 235-acre tract funded with NAWCA funds for conservation by VOF with closing expected by end of 2023. |
